Rainbow Snippets would like to warm you up

It’s still bitterly cold and snowy here in the UK, so here’s a snippet from Plumber’s Mate Mystery #3, Heat Trap, to warm you up! 😉

Heat Trap will be re-releasing in its fabulous new cover on Monday, March 5th – but I believe if you pre-order from Riptide you’ll get it a couple of days earlier – so any moment now! 🙂

I ran round to the kitchen door and sure enough, it was unlocked. When I pushed it open, smoke billowed out and the heat hit me like a cricket ball to the head. I flung up my arm in front of my eyes and wished I’d thought to do the whole wet-rag-over-the-face thing. Too late now. Needed to find out who was in here and get them out, pronto.

I blinked rapidly, and my vision cleared. I almost wished it hadn’t.

Old flames can leave a nasty burn.

It’s been six months since plumber Tom Paretski was hit by a shocking revelation about his family, and he’s been avoiding dealing with it ever since. His lover, PI Phil Morrison, wants Tom to dig deeper into his history and try to develop his psychic talent for finding things, but Tom’s not nearly so keen. Just as he decides to bite the bullet, though, worse problems crawl out of the woodwork.

Young Devil’s Dyke barmaid Marianne has an ex, Grant Carey, who won’t accept that things are over between them, and he’s ruthless in dealing with anyone who gets in his way.  When Carey threatens an old friend of theirs, Phil and Tom step in to help—but that makes them targets themselves.

What with his uncertainty about Phil’s motives, Tom’s family doing their best to drive a wedge between them, and the uncovering of an ugly incident in Phil’s past, Tom’s not sure who he can trust—and the body he finds in the pub cellar isn’t the only thing that stinks.

JL Merrow is that rare beast, an English person who refuses to drink tea. She read Natural Sciences at Cambridge, where she learned many things, chief amongst which was that she never wanted to see the inside of a lab ever again. Her one regret is that she never mastered the ability of punting one-handed whilst holding a glass of champagne. She writes across genres, with a preference for contemporary gay romance and the paranormal, and is frequently accused of humour. Find JL Merrow online at: www.jlmerrow.com

Oh, wow! Sounds like a fabulous read. And a cliff hanger? Ooh. Well done. And congratulations on finishing a manuscript. I like that name, Grant Carey, by the way. ~swoons~ Did you know Cary Grant went to school with a scientific genius? We watch too much science channel stuff. Heh… Happy Writing!

Thank you! And no, I hadn’t known that about Cary Grant. Somewhere, I’ve got a picture of the statue of him in Bristol – I went to say hi while at UK Meet one year – but goodness knows where I’ve put it. 😀

  2. Oh, I like this, makes me want to know what is going to happen, and yet a little nervous about what he’s going to see. Great snippet.
