Rainbow Snippets is feeling steamy

And by steamy I mean in the mood for steampunk, that is; I do hope you weren’t misled into expecting something else. 😉

This week’s snippet is taken from my short f/f  steampunk story London Lark, due out in the Upstaged Anthology featuring queer women in the performing arts on July 15, 2018.

For those who missed my previous snippets from this story, please note that Miss Pandora is an automaton, and Hodgkins, our narrator, is NOT a lad! 😉

Weeks it was I worked on her—I don’t say all the time, mind, as we’d plenty of other calls on us. There’s always something as wants fixing. Mechanical housemaids, sweeps’ boys, even a false nose for some syphilitic toff what’d got stuck on sneezing. We always tells ’em they ain’t designed for so much snuff, but what toff wants to listen to a tinkerer and his lad telling him to curb his pleasures?

Miss Pandora, though, she was my labour of love, and I was at her side all the hours I could spare.

About jlmerrow

JL Merrow is that rare beast, an English person who refuses to drink tea. She read Natural Sciences at Cambridge, where she learned many things, chief amongst which was that she never wanted to see the inside of a lab ever again. Her one regret is that she never mastered the ability of punting one-handed whilst holding a glass of champagne. She writes across genres, with a preference for contemporary gay romance and the paranormal, and is frequently accused of humour. Find JL Merrow online at: www.jlmerrow.com
