Angel is out today

angel_400

My paranormal m/m short, Angel, is out in second edition today.

It’ll be available exclusively from JMS Books for one week, at 20% off, and then at all good e-tailers.

And via the magic of some complicated distribution deal I don’t pretend to understand, it’s also on Kindle Unlimited (with, I believe, the rest of my books from JMS Books).

How do you know if you’re one of the damned?

As a child, Don wanted to become a priest. Now a grown man mostly at ease with being gay, he’s left the Catholic Church and has chosen instead to help people through his work as a parole officer. His strong faith is shaken when his latest assignment turns out to be Michael, a young man Don hasn’t seen since he took Michael to church as a child—and saw his parish priest cast Michael out of the church as a demon.

Meeting him as an adult re-ignites the obsession Don had with the boy he couldn’t save—but can Michael be saved at all? Or is the strangely compelling demon with a taste for risky sex as damned as he believes himself to be?

Cover reveal – Pricks & Pragmatism

Pricks and Prag 200x300.72dpi

I have a lovely new cover for Pricks & Pragmatism, courtesy of Flirtation Designs, which I couldn’t wait to share with you. 🙂

The book itself will be re-released soon – I have it tentatively scheduled for 1st May but *whispers* it may sneak out a little earlier than that. 😉

Kicked out by his father at age sixteen, English student Luke Corbin’s used to trading on his looks and charm to keep a roof over his head until he can make it big as a journalist. He goes for men with money, power and looks, in that order, and he doesn’t let emotions get in the way. But when his lover tells him it’s over, Luke finds himself homeless—just as his final exams are looming.

Moving in with geeky chemical engineer Russell may be a step down for him, but Luke can’t afford to be choosy. Fully prepared to put out as usual, Luke’s confused and frustrated when Russell refuses to take advantage of him—and even more so when he finds out Russell’s saving himself for someone special.

The more time he spends with the shy, honourable man, the more Luke finds himself bowled over by Russell’s sweetness and integrity. But just as he’s coming to terms with his own wish to be that special guy for Russell, Luke has to face facts: he’s fallen for the one man he can’t seem to charm.

Epic Awards Finalist

2017 EBook_finalist-LGtoloveatraitor72webI’m chuffed to pieces to hear that my 1920-set historical novel To Love a Traitor is a 2017 Epic Awards Finalist – but also kind of gutted that it’s not on sale right now. 😦

I’m hoping to have it back on the virtual shelves as soon as possible, but still waiting on my rights reversion from Samhain. I’ll post an update as soon as I can.

Rainbow Snippets is back

Hi all! Apologies for the lack of snippetry over the last…ye gods, has it really been a month?  The Samhain closure (and, all right, at least a couple of Saturdays, my social life) has kept me busy of late, but hopefully normal service will be resumed from now on.

For today, here’s a snippet from Angel, which will be released in second edition next week:

“You don’t remember me, do you?” Andras said at last. He laughed, a short, dry sound without much humour in it. “Must be nearly twenty years ago, now. But I remember you, Donnie.” He paused. “Not the sort of thing I’d ever forget, is it? The day I found out I’m a demon.”

Samhain Closure Update

I have some good news to share: I’ve signed contracts with those lovely people at Riptide Publishing to republish my Plumber’s Mate Mysteries and the Shamwell Tales. Dates TBA, but it’s hoped the Shamwell series will be re-released in time for the publication of #4 in the series, SPUN!, on 3rd July.

Muscling Through is to be re-released by JMS Books, with a provisional date of 1st April, and I’m hoping it’ll be available for the first time in paperback!

I’ll be self-publishing several of my books, and the (very) tentative release schedule is as follows:

Pricks & Pragmatism – Southampton Stories #1 01-May-17
Hard Tail– Southampton Stories #2 15-May-17
Slam! 29-May-17
Fall Hard 12-Jun-17
Raising the Rent 26-Jun-17

The plan is for them to appear on KU for the first 3 months, then on other platforms after that.  Dates of publication may change if necessary so as not to clash with books coming out from publishers, but I’ll keep you posted.

Please note that bringing books out in paperback will NOT be a priority for me, so if you want a print copy of one of these books or any of my other Samhain titles, it might be a good idea to order one now.

I’ll let you know re my other Samhain titles: Camwolf, Midnight in Berlin, Wight Mischief and To Love a Traitor, when I have something definite to tell you.

Reminder: all of my Samhain books will be coming down from retail sites from  Wednesday 1st March.

Please make sure you have downloaded and backed up all your purchases!

Cover reveal and update

wakeupcall_teaser

I’m delighted to say the cover for my first Porthkennack novel, Wake Up Call, has been revealed exclusively at Heroes and Heartbreakers, along with the cover for Joanna Chambers’ historical novel in the series, A Gathering Storm, which looks fantastic and which I can’t wait to read!

See both covers at Heroes and Heartbreakers

And an update re my Samhain books coming out of print on February 28th: I’m currently in negotiations with publishers to bring some of the books out again as soon as possible, and I’m planning to dip my toes into the exciting waters of self-publishing for some others, which has the potential to get them back on sale faster.

As soon as I have some idea of a schedule for the re-releases I’ll let you know. In the meantime, if you’ve previously purchased any of my books, firstly: Thank you! And secondly: please make sure you download and back up your books. I’m not sure what happens to Kindle books bought from Amazon when they disappear from sale on the site, if they’re stored in the cloud, and I’d hate you to lose access to your books.

The story has been completely re-edited for the second edition, and is now around 10% longer, but it’s substantially the same story as the first edition. The devil is in the details… 😉

Rainbow Snippets is booking it

Whoops! Running late today! Better hurry up and post…

I think there’s a rule that any writer who produces more than a handful of novels must, at some time or another, have a writer as a protagonist. Today’s snippet is taken from my romantic suspense Wight Mischief, where I have two – reclusive novelist Marcus, and our second hero Will’s best friend Baz, a journalist who’s  writing a book about ghosts on the Isle of Wight (or at least, he claims to be):

“Right, I’ve got it down to three. Wight Fright, Turned Wight Overnight and Things That Go Bump in the Wight. What do you think?”

Will paused, chilli-laden fork halfway to his mouth, and tried to think of something tactful. “How about you just write the book, Baz, and then give it a title? I mean, surely writing it’s going to be the hard part?”

“Clearly, you have no conception of the travails of a writer. Writing, I’ll have you know, is the easy bit. Finding a decent title, that’s the bugger!”

Wight Mischief

rainbowawards_hon_mention3

WightMischief200x300

A stranger could light up his world…or drive him deeper into darkness.

Will Golding needs a break from his usual routine, and he’s been looking forward to a holiday helping Baz, his friend-with-benefits, research a book about Isle of Wight ghosts. When an evening beach walk turns into a startling encounter with Marcus Devereux, Will can’t get his mind off the notoriously reclusive writer’s pale, perfect, naked body. And any interest in ghostly legends takes a back seat to the haunting secrets lying in Marcus’s past.

Marcus, painfully aware of his appearance, is accustomed to keeping to himself. But the memory of tall, athletic Will standing on the beach draws him out from behind defenses he’s maintained since age fourteen, when his parents were murdered. While his heart is hungry for human contact, though, his longtime guardian warns him that talking to anyone—particularly a journalist like Baz—is as dangerous as a day in the sun.

As Baz gets closer to the truth, the only thing adding up is the sizzling attraction between Will and Marcus. And it’s becoming increasingly clear that someone wants to let sleeping secrets lie…or Will and Baz could end up added to the island’s ghostly population.

Product Warnings:  Contains perilous cliffs, elusive might-be ghosts, a secret tunnel, and skinny-dipping by moonlight.
