Rainbow Snippets is excited about Lock Nut coming out on Monday

Lock Nut, the fifth (and, let it be noted, NOT the final Plumber’s Mate Mystery) is due out on Monday, so that’s where this week’s snippet comes from.

Here, Tom’s in pursuit of a man through Camden Market:

Jonny-boy took a corner too quick past a stall selling knockoff mystic tat. A tray of blue glass evil eyes went flying, and they skittered across the floor in all directions. The stall holder jumped up from his chair and shouted abuse at our Mr. P., I swerved to avoid slamming into his broad, unfriendly back—and trod on an evil eye.

The eye rolled—sadly unironically—and my ankle turned. The wrong ankle. Pain shot through my bad hip, blindingly intense—and again when I landed heavily on the ground.

There might have been a certain amount of swearing involved.

Lock Nut – #5 in the Plumber’s Mate Mystery series

LockNut_500x750[4]Still waters run deadly.

Tom Paretski, plumber with a talent for finding hidden things, and his private investigator fiancé Phil Morrison have been hired to locate a runaway husband, Jonathan Parrot. The job seems simple enough—until their quarry turns up dead in a canal, and a photofit of Tom’s face is splashed all over the news, making him chief suspect.

The widow, petite ex–porn star Lilah Lovett, is convinced her husband was killed by his gay lover, but Tom and Phil aren’t so sure. Worried they may have precipitated Jonathan’s death, they’re determined to find the real killer. But with a web of incestuous ties linking the suspects, it’s hard to know who to trust. Especially when a second victim dies a gruesome death.

Meanwhile, with their wedding looming and them sharing a house now, Tom’s worried it may all be too much, too fast. The last thing he needs are the mixed messages Phil seems to be sending out. They’ll need to get back on the same track if they want to make it to their honeymoon together—and alive.

Due out in ebook and paperback on 14 May, 2018

and now available to pre-order*

*And if you pre-order from the Riptide site, you get the book a couple of days early, which by my calculations works out as…now?

And a clipping snip… there would have been more than a “certain amount” of swearing involved if I’d been the one to go down, I can guarantee that. 😉

Ow. I actually cringed, and my ankle and leg ache in sympathy.
