Happy New Year everybody! I hope you all had a fun/peaceful time, as desired. 🙂
I’m delighted to say that the first of my Plumber’s Mate Mysteries, Pressure Head, is now out in second edition from Riptide Publishing.
Pressure Head – #1 in the Plumber’s Mate Mystery series
Some things are better left hidden.
Tom Paretski’s not just a plumber with a dodgy hip courtesy of a schoolboy accident. He also has a sixth sense for finding hidden things. Called in by the police to help locate a body near Brock’s Hollow, he’s staggered to encounter Phil Morrison, his old school crush—and the closeted bully whose actions contributed to Tom’s accident.
Phil’s all grown up now, and Tom’s unwilling attraction to him is back with a vengeance. Phil’s now openly gay—and what’s more, he’s interested in Tom’s personal charms as well as his psychic talents. As a private investigator called in by the dead woman’s parents, Phil is sceptical about Tom’s unusual gift, but nevertheless quick to spot its potential to aid him in his work.
The further they go with the investigation, the less they can ignore their shared past, and the more the pressure and the heat build between them. But Tom isn’t certain he wants to know the secrets he’s helping to uncover, while there’s a murderer on the loose who won’t hesitate to kill again—and this uneasy couple is moving right into his sights.

Good luck! 😀
ETA: I’ll make the draw on Friday 12th Jan, round about tea-time, so there’s plenty of time to get your comments in!
*ETA 2: The Amazon link at present only links to the paperback, but the Kindle edition is now available here: Kindle
There’s been a delay getting the ebook up on Amazon, although the paperback is available to purchase. I’ll update when I hear it’s up and running. In the meantime, mobi files can be bought direct from the Riptide site and emailed to your Kindle – all you have to do first is go into your Amazon account and add the Riptide address firstname.lastname@example.org to your Approved Personal Document E-mail List (see Settings under Manage Your Content and Devices).
ETA 3: The draw is now closed, and the winner is…. mewalker10, whom I’ve emailed.
Congratulations, and thanks to everyone who played – some great recs there! 😀
Congrats on the rerelease of this series, JL – one of my favorite of yours. Since you asked, one of my favorite mystery novel is Josh Lanyon’s Fair Game not only bcoz it’s a good book but it also introduced me to the author’s works!
Thanks, Didi! I love Josh’s books too. I think my favourites have to be the first of hers I ever read (almost the first m/m I ever read) which were the Adrien English series. 🙂
My favorite is the Adrien English series, too.
Happy New Year and thanks for the giveaway.
I look forward in reading the Plumber’s Mate series.
Thank you! Another series I can highly recommend is the Kevin Connor mysteries by Scott Sherman, starting with First You Fall. 🙂
Congratulations on the second edition. I love Tom and Phil, and I’m so happy to see I’m not the only one. I love Adrien English as well, Josh knows how to write a mystery, but I want to share one book I’ve read this year and enjoyed a lot: P.S. I Spook You by S.E. Harmon. It has that mixture of humour, mystery and paranormal that I really dig. I really recommend it
Thanks, Susana! And thank you for the rec – I managed to miss that one, but it sounds right up my street! Will definitely check it out. 😀
I love a good mystery. The Adrien English books are some of my favs. The Skyler Foxe mysteries by Haley Walsh are good too. I absolutely adore your plumbers mate series. I re-read all the time! Thanks for sharing with us today.
Thank you! I keep hearing the Skyler Foxe mysteries recommended, so I must give them a try. 🙂
You’re a new author to me and this series sounds interesting and fun. I’ll need to give it a try! Thanks for the giveaway! One of my favorite mystery books is Death by Silver by Melissa Scott and Amy Griswold.
Oh, I enjoyed Death by Silver too – I do love a bit of historical colour. 🙂
And thank you!
My favorite mystery books are the Whyborne & Griffin series by Jordan L. Hawke.
I’m looking firward to re-reading the Plumber’s Mate series! I’ve already read them, I used to own them but I lost them when I moved to a new place a few years ago, so I’m planning on buying the new editions.
I adore the Whyborne and Griffin series! Jordan has such a fantastic imagination.
And thanks so much! I hope you like the new Plumber’s Mate covers. 😀
My favorite mystery books are from James Patterson!!
Thank you for the chance!
Ooh, a non mm rec. I haven’t tried any of his yet. Thanks, and you’re welcome! 🙂
I absolutely adore Jordan Castillo Price’s PsyCop series. It’s one of my all time favorite re-reads.
On a side note do you happen to know when the e-book will be available on Amazon? I only see the physical paperback available.
Love, love, love PsyCop! Such a great, believable world, and Vic is a fabulous character.
And alas! I’m as much in the dark as you are re Amazon. I’ll ask Riptide if they know what’s holding the ebook up. But you can get the mobi file from the Riptide site and email it to your Kindle – all you have to do first is go into your Amazon account and add the Riptide address email@example.com to your Approved Personal Document E-mail List (see Settings under Manage Your Content and Devices).
I’ve now heard back from Riptide, and apparently it’s an Amazon issue, due to this being a second edition – they’ve been sent all the docs to prove Riptide have a right to republish, but they haven’t chugged through the system yet. I’ll update you when I hear it’s gone through. 🙂
Love this series! Can’t wait for Lock Nut!
One of my favorite mystery/crime novels is The Alienist by Caleb Carr. They are making a TV series out of it. I don’t know how to feel about that. *sigh*
Thank you! 😀
I haven’t read The Alienist, but it looks very intriguing. Know what you mean about the ambivalent feelings over the TV adaptation! Here’s hoping they do it justice. 🙂
Congrats on the second publishing of pressure head! I like ” Habit For Death (Nicky D’Amico Mystery #1) by Chuck Zito” I am fascinated by books or movies about people who work behind the scene at plays or movie productions.
My current favorite mystery novel is Sinner’s Gin by Rhys Ford. Congratulations on the relaunch of the Plummer’s Mate series. Thanks for the chance
I love Rhys’s books – always so action-packed! And thank you! 😀
I love mysteries (including yours)! A favorite of mine is In the Bleak Midwinter by Julia Spencer-Fleming which is not a romance, although romance happens along the way in the series, and in spectacular fashion. Congrats on the rereleases and yay for a new one in May!
I’ll have to check that one out – thanks for the rec! ❤
The Sixth Sense Series by Sarah Madison. A slightly paranormal mystery series that I fell in love with. It’s the same couple and case in all 3 books. Unfortunately, the last book was published in 2015 and it’s definitely not the end.
Oh, that series definitely looks interesting. The last update for book #4 seems to have been “hopefully early 2018” so fingers crossed! 🙂
Ugh. I hate that we have to wait until May for the next book. I suppose I can reread one book a month until release to refresh my memories of these guys, but really they’re one of my favorite couples so it was only a matter of time that I do that.
Since others have mentioned Adrien English and PsyCop I’ll suggest the Duncan Andrews series by Stephen Osborne. I also like the Alex Verus series (not mm) by Benedict Jacka.
Sorry about the wait – the months will fly by, honest! 😉
And I actually have Pale as a Ghost by Stephen Osborne and Fated by Benedict Jacka (rec’d to me as a huge Rivers of London fan) already on my tbr pile – could be time to bump them up to the top!
Congrats on the re-release! This is one of my fav series. I remember whe I first read book 1 and didn’t even know it was a series and I was hoping you continued on their adventures, lol. I’m a little sad it’s going to end. But I can’t wait to see what else you plan to write.
Josh Lanyon writes engrossing mysteries, All’s Fair series is great and one of my very first mm books.
Actually, I plan to write at least one more Plumber’s Mate Mystery, but I’m afraid it’ll be a while coming. And thank you! 😀
